FAQ
Protecting your property and creating defensible space in wildfire-prone areas
Why Fire Mitigation Matters
We love spending time in the mountains, and hate to see the effect of wildfires on unmanaged forest lands. It is no secret that wildfire risk has increased substantially in the past several years due to pests like the pine mountain beetle, spruce bark beetle and drought.
When it comes to fire mitigation, our goal is to create defensible space and reduce potential fuel by cleaning up deadfall, brush, and removing dead standing trees.
Some insurance companies require clearings of up to 20 feet around occupied structures in order to continue coverage.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to have tree work done?
Trees are so unique in all their different species, shapes, sizes, and locations. It is not possible to give an accurate quote for pruning, root zone therapy, or removal over the phone or from a picture. The best way to get pricing is to contact us and have us out for a free estimate.
What is your service area?
Our headquarters is in Wellington. Typically we serve most of Larimer County including Fort Collins, Loveland and Windsor. However, we love to travel! We can be willing to travel for special projects, just ask!
What is a certified arborist?
Improper work practices can permanently damage trees, and unsafe work practices can cause accidents, possibly damaging property or persons. A certified arborist is a verified professional in the industry with at least 3 years of experience, or a bachelors degree in a related field.
Is my tree safe?
By definition, all trees pose risk. It is our responsibility to inform and educate homeowners and clients about the factors that contribute to varying levels of tree risk, and to clearly communicate our professional assessment of the specific risk level associated with their tree. Additionally, we can come to solutions for maintaining the health and productivity of your outdoor space to increase its functional value of your most significant investment, your home.
What is the difference between an estimate and a consultation?
A free estimate is when a homeowner or client already has a plan or scope of work that they would like to complete, and we give them our best price.
A consultation is typically different in that it is more of a request for knowledge and specialized recommendations for specific tree needs. For example, a consultation would be to create a plan to prioritize tree health before new construction begins.
How can I get an estimate from MG Tree?
Use our request a quote form here to schedule an estimate for services, or to request a consultation about the health of your trees. We typically follow up with a written proposal to be signed and emailed back to us, then add you to our schedule.
